One Blog vs. Two Blogs

Has anyone tried running multiple blogs at once? And if so, what was your experience?

I have thought about starting a second blog to record unfood related items, like books, music, crafting, etc. Some days this seems like a perfect idea and other days I think it could all just be collected into this blog.

Any thoughts?

Yes! I have actually created several blogs with the intent of doing this, but I have found that for now, I would rather include diabetes-related and personal stuff in one blog. Makes things easier for me and for my diverse group of readers. I don't know if you would be the same, but I know I follow you because I have a personal connection to you, not because I am living a vegan lifestyle (I'm not, but I do find it incredibly interesting and an option for the future). So I think it depends on your readers, and how comitted you are to keeping multiple blogs. For me, it's easier to post in one consistantly rather than keeping up with multiple, and to loosly tie everything to my main topic but understand sometimes I'm off topic!

Hope all is well!

It is hard for me to keep up one blog, and even harder to do multiple blogs (I've tried). Blogs that focus on one area are great, but I don't mind hodge-podge kind of blogs about my friends (or people that I think would be my good friends in real life). I think it's easier to write and update content if you don't narrow your focus. But that's me.

I have two - one for knitting/family stuff and then The Vegan Version just for my cooking my way through a vegan version of Julia Child project...I think it's easier to keep up with them if they have completely separate 'themes'...

Ah yes. Remember The Crafty Kook? I moved from Wing-It to the Kook because I wanted to be able to blog about things other than food, and Wing-It was always known as a food blog. But I ended up realizing that Wing-It was *my* blog, so I could blog about whatever the fork I wanted right there! So my vote is for you to blog about whatever you want here, but that was my experience, so if you would be more comfortable keeping your food posts separate from everything else - you should totally go for it!

I did another blog for a while all about animal care. It didn't last long though. I say if you are up for running two blogs, do it!

I would be scary if I had more than one blog! I like my one blog and tend to blog about anything I want on it. Admittedly it is mostly vegan food but not always and certainly not exclusively.
I joined Goodreads and wanted to thank you for pointing my over there - it's a GREAT site.
Thank you
:)

Thanks for all of the thoughts everyone! For now, I've decided to just focus on this one. I'm not completely certain I can came up with two and am excited to post more regularly on this one. I have discussed starting a blog with a coworker related to books and teen projects. So I will update if that project takes off.

Jeni ~ Glad you like goodreads!! I'm obsessed ;)

I have two blogs. This is because I started with my homeschool/family blog. I include a lot of what we're learning about and field trips, etc. But I kept wanting to post pictures of food we'd eat on vacation or new products I found. I knew that a lot of people thought it was kooky that I was posting pictures of my food (I guess it looks weird if you're not a regular food blog reader. :) ) Then I realized how annoyed I am to have to read posts from friends who were posting pictures of meat or talking about how good meat is for you to eat (when really, I'm just reading to keep in touch and check out the cute pictures of their friends) - that I realized I don't want my family and friends who aren't interested in my food pictures to feel the same way about my blog. That's why I started my vegan blog, and I'm so glad I did. I realized I could probably just have my vegan blog - that way people know what they're going to get when they show up. But there are a lot more kid things I want to record for the journal/scrapbook aspect of a blog, that I'll keep my other one, too.

However, - books, music, crafting, etc - those are things that I think the general vegan audience care about it, too. I think it's always hard to gain readership when you first start a blog, so if you're concerned about that, I'd say just keep it all here.

uh, weird proofreading error - i meant to say "check out the cute pictures of their "kids" - not their friends! ha!
